What Certified For Sport ® Means for You
nuBound is now Certified for Sport® and there are four reasons why that means good things for you.
What comes to your mind when you hear a nutrition product is Certified for Sport®? Most people hear the word “certified” and assume that it means something positive, but don't understand all that's involved.
1) Guaranteed Drug Free
Competitive athletes, who are subject to testing for performance enhancing drugs, know that the Certified for Sport® mark guarantees the products have been screened to ensure they contain no banned substances. Trainers, coaches, and dietitians, from the pros to the NCAA recognize that Certified for Sport® products may be safely consumed by their athletes.
Several professional leagues, including the NFL, MLB, and the NHL, only allow clubs to recommend or provide products that are Certified for Sport®, while training staffs in other organizations like the NBA and Olympic training programs recognize that any products not Certified could get their athletes in trouble.
There is more to being Certified for Sport® than simply being drug-free. The Certified for Sport® program developed by NSF International is now a recognized standard (NSF/ANSI 173) and it requires that all products are:
2) Tested to Ensure Accurate Label Claims
Whatever the label on a nutritional supplement claims about ingredients is just that, a claim, unless the product is Certified for Sport®. Products in the program are tested by a third party lab to ensure that what’s listed on the label is what’s actually inside the bottle,
3) Tested to Ensure Safety
All ingredients are reviewed to ensure that they meet FDA guidelines and are present at an acceptable typical use level. Everything in the product is then tested by a third party lab to confirm there are no unsafe levels of contaminants (like heavy metals, bacteria, fungus, etc.) in the tested products, and finally
4) Produced in a GMP Registered Facility
To become Certified for Sport®, products must be manufactured in a facility that is GMP registered and audited twice annually for quality and safety by NSF International. These inspections are over and above the annual FDA inspections and in many cases hold facilities to a higher operational standard.
All of this ensures the safety and dependability of what you're putting in your body. The Certified for Sport® mark and what it means may be part of the fine print on the label, but it guarantees good things for you. When you take nuBound, you can rest assured because we are Certified for Sport®!
